Sultana Downrigging combines the largest annual gathering of Tall Ships in North America and a high-energy Bluegrass festival – all set against the backdrop of Chestertown, the coolest small town in America. There’s no other festival like it.
Sultana Downrigging is operated by the Sultana Education Foundation (SEF) in partnership with more than a dozen partner nonprofits. Based in Chestertown, SEF provides Environmental Literacy programs certified by the Maryland State Department of Education for more than 13,000 PreK-12 students from 15 Maryland counties. By fostering an appreciation for the Chesapeake Bay, SEF works to create a community of individuals dedicated to preserving this irreplaceable treasure. Proceeds from Downrigging support SEF’s programs and the programs of the other participating nonprofits.
