MHA Invites Community Members to Join 25th Annual Empowering
Community Wellness Symposium on “Finding Your Voice”
The Mental Health Association in Delaware (MHA) will host the 25th Annual Empowering Community Wellness Symposium on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m at Delaware State University’s MLK Student Center, located at 1200 N. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
Community members are invited to join this milestone event and participate in a day dedicated to mental health awareness, connection, and empowerment. This year’s theme, “Finding Your Voice,” highlights the importance of self-advocacy, healing, and community connection in promoting mental wellness. The symposium will create space for open dialogue, learning, and shared experiences that strengthen both individual and collective voices.
Suicide Prevention Specialist and Symposium Chair Sydney Elliott, said, “During these challenging times, it is important for us to come together as a community. We need to learn more about how we can advocate for ourselves, advocate for others, and how we can empower our communities to be the best they can be. Delaware is small, and tight-knit communities are powerful.”
The day will begin with a resource fair, offering attendees access to more than 50+ sponsors and exhibitors, all of whom provide services and resources dedicated to community mental health and wellness. (Sponsor and exhibitor spaces are still available – please email Development Manager of Growth & Education, Esther Hofknecht Curtis at esther@mhainde.org for more information.)
The symposium will feature keynote presentations from April Thomas-Jones, B.A., M.Ed., M.S. (HLS), CEO of Planned Parenthood of Delaware, and Marla Blunt-Carter, LMSW, of Rutgers University, both of whom bring powerful perspectives on advocacy, leadership, and community engagement.
Attendees may choose from a variety of interactive workshops and panels on topics such as:
- Finding Your Voice Through Grief
- Building Connections Between Advocates and the Hispanic Community
- Discussing Generational Healing
- Advocating for Yourself and Others
The 25th Annual Empowering Community Wellness Symposium is open to community members, professionals, students, and mental health advocates who are committed to fostering healthier, more connected communities.
General admission for this full-day conference is only $20.00. Registration is open through March 3, 2026.
